In a recent PARA Race Administrator Workshop, a question was raised regarding the Status of an Athlete who turns 18 during the Competition Season
According to Cheryl Barnes, USSS Membership Supervisor, athletes who turn 18 during the competition season will have a 45-day grace period from the day they turn 18 to complete their background screening. During this grace period, the athlete will remain "Active" and be listed on the points lists.
If they do not complete their background screening 46 days after turning 18, their license will become "Pending," and they will not be allowed to race.
Athletes must also complete and upload all PA clearances:
FBI clearance (ACT 114)
PA State Police clearance (ACT 34)
Department of Human Services clearance (PA Child Abuse) (ACT 151)
Further, all athletes must complete Safe Sport Training on or before their 18th Birthday. Failure to do so will change their license status to "Pending," and they will not be allowed to race.
