I hope that all is well and your teams are enjoying success. Itwon’t be long until the 2020 Eastern High School Championships. As mentionedearlier, this year’s championship will be hosted again by the Franconia SkiClub at our Mittersill training site on March 5,6,7,8 2020. I’d like to take aminute to review a few “housekeeping” items that I’m sure you’re all aware ofbut I’ll go over them anyway.

Membership: This is key as there is a significant change in membershipthis year for athletes 18 years old. These athletes must complete the US Ski& Snowboard Safe Sport Course and pass a background check. The backgroundcheck is done by an independent agency and can take a couple of weeks if theyare backed up. So please encourage any athlete that will be purchasing a Non-Scored athlete membership ($100.00) to do so sooner rather than later.

All athletes and coaches must be members of USS&S. Coachesnames and USSS # must be submitted in advance to Brian Bell at [email protected].

Helmet: All helmets must be FIS approved, no exceptions.

Skis: Approved USSA lengths for men and women.

Team Size: Remains the same with 12 men and 12 women. The top sixfinishers count for the team score. The event is two races in one. It’s a USSSscored event for points and it’s a team event. If you DNF or DQ in the firstrun you get a second run to potentially score points for you team.

Format: The format will be the same as in the past two years. There will be a training day on Thursday with GS on Baron’s Run serviced by adouble chair and slalom training on the Taft training hill serviced by a T-Bar.Ticket prices for Thursday training will be roughly $29.00 similar to yearbefore last. Mittersill is a World Class training facility and one of a handfulof US Ski Team training sites.

Friday will be the slalom for Men and Women. Saturday will bethe GS for Women and Sunday will be the GS for Men.

Banquet: There will be a banquet Saturday evening for athletesand coaches. Friday slalom awards and Saturday Women’s GS awards will bepresented.

Sunday: Men’s GS. awards, Team awards and Men’s/Women’s Overallawards.

Event Date:

Thursday, March 5, 2020 - 9:30am to Sunday, March 8, 2020 - 5:15pm
